LSG Evaluation!

My first piece of work was the one that I got inspiration from a bag of walkers crisps design. I thought of this as usually a crisp packet is quite bright and quite eye catching and inviting. So I tried to adapt the design for a learner survival guide however I struggled to do so as I was trying to get everything perfect and I then ran out of time.
My second idea was the one of being stuck in a vending machine. The idea behind this is that no matter what your beliefs are at college you will be accepted as what you are! I chose the red and the green for the character on the machine as they are the college colours.
My final idea is the one with the four faces mashed up the concept behind this is that no mater what you look like, no matter what your beliefs are, if you are different you will always be accepted and their will always be someone their for you I chose red and green as they are the college colours. Black for the background so it would stand out more.

In conclusion I think that my final piece worked quite well. I believe that it is that unattractive that you can't keep your eyes off of it! However if I was to do it again I would definitely try and get the faces to align better. I would also try different colour scemes. As I think it could look better if the colours didn't clash as much.

Research Into Handbook and Advertising

I like this design as it is very simple and bold. I think that the use of only two colours is very effective. The matte finish on the black contrasts the gloss of the gold.
The three images above are all examples surrealism in advertising. In the first we see the man in the advertisement holding the light to light up the advert. I like this as it isnt something if usually see. I think they would have had to build off of the advertisement. In the second image we see the stem and leaf of a tomato on the bottom of a ketchup bottle. It suggest that the whole bottle of ketchup is made up completely of tomatoes. In the final image of the three, we can see an advert for tape. It is a very simple image of tape. However the thing that attracts me to the advert is the fact of the the sign appears to be held up by the same tape suggesting that it is very strong.
